Dr. Timothy James, DVM, DACVS, CCRT
Board-Certified Veterinary Surgeon
Dr. Timothy James is a highly experienced, board-certified veterinary surgeon with more than two decades of experience in veterinary medicine. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Georgia in 2003, following a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of Wisconsin.
Dr. James has dedicated much of his career to advanced veterinary surgery and rehabilitation. He became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT) in 2007 and subsequently completed advanced surgical residency training. In 2014, he became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (DACVS), specializing in small animal surgery.
Throughout his career, Dr. James has practiced in both high-volume specialty referral centers and smaller community and rural practices. This diverse experience has given him a broad surgical skill set encompassing advanced orthopedic, soft-tissue, and neurologic surgery. His additional expertise in canine rehabilitation allows him to consider not only the surgical procedure itself, but also the patient’s recovery, mobility, and long-term function.
Dr. James is also passionate about veterinary education. In addition to caring for surgical patients, he travels throughout the United States lecturing and providing surgical training to veterinarians through a variety of veterinary surgical organizations. His commitment to teaching and mentorship allows him to share advanced surgical techniques and practical clinical experience with veterinarians across the country.
Beyond his surgical expertise, Dr. James is known for his compassionate and individualized approach to patient care. He recognizes that every pet is an important member of the family and works closely with pet owners and referring veterinarians to ensure they understand the diagnosis, surgical options, expected recovery, and long-term treatment plan.
